Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) Rector Prof. Dr. Yavuz Ünal, together with Tarık Varer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of VARER Defense and Aerospace Company operating in Amasya, conducted an on-site visit to Samsun Technopark, which is set to become the hub for upcoming Research and Development (R&D) activities.

The visit involved detailed discussions on strengthening the cooperation between academia and industry, aiming to develop potential joint projects. The focus was placed on innovative solutions and technologies that could emerge from the synergy of academic knowledge and industrial experience.

An R&D Firm to Be Established at Samsun Technopark

VARER, a company engaged in the production of tripod legs for weapons, weapon materials, and all national projects requiring confidentiality with a NATO Facility Security Clearance, aims to expand its R&D efforts in the defense and energy sectors in the short term. In this context, the company will establish an R&D unit at the Ballıca Extension Area of the Samsun Technopark, a Technology Development Zone, to conduct joint research activities with OMÜ.

The Company Will Contribute to Regional Employment

Working in collaboration with OMÜ, the company will focus on the R&D and investment of strategic products in the defense field, particularly within the scope of nationalization efforts. VARER will operate within Samsun Technopark to carry out the necessary production. The company also aims to increase its export capacity through the region, thereby contributing to local employment.
